The SSAs collective aims to pool the expertise of researchers primarily located in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté who study critical issues concerning agriculture and farmers. These include the economic and social vulnerabilities of farms, the methods for generational renewal and farm transfer, access to land, individual and collective ways of practicing the profession, the rethinking of knowledge and forms of agricultural management, the conditions for agro-ecological transition, the relocalization of the food supply, and agriculture and farmers facing climate change.

It brings together around twenty researchers from a range of disciplines (sociology, geography, education sciences, anthropology). The SSAs collective's activities take the form of:

  1. Internal work sessions focused on participants' projects and research.
  2. Seminars with guest researchers from outside the group.
  3. Study days held each year in the spring.
